This article aims to expand the scope of tourism studies using cinemas as materials by reconsidering the relationship between cinemas and tourism. Most of the tourism studies on cinemas are about the filming location (e.g., “Film-Tourism and “Location-Tourism”), but the analysis of the films about “concrete Japan” or “different cultures” of Japan can clarify the academic significance of “Japan sightseeing through cinemas.” It also has the possibility to expand the scope of the previous studies on tourism and it is expected that various cinemas will become the materials of tourism studies in the future.
